This is my review of ‎HMmagnets Powerful Magnetic Stud Finder PRO (Upgraded Version). These stud finders work great. The magnets are strong and outperform the name brand magnetic stud finders I have. Just watch your fingers if two stud finders come close to each other in your hand. It will pinch your fingers. The base is smooth so no wall damage will occur. Sliding them across the wall quickly finds the screws holding the drywall to wall studs or ceiling joists. I find these stud finders to work excellent and well worth the price so I will rate them 5 stars.

Our old stud finder wasn't working properly and we wound up having a 50-in TV come crashing down because it wasn't in the studs like we thought it was. This one works much better and you can tell that it's accurate. It comes with two of them and I would highly recommend them for accuracy and quality. When my son-in-law needed to fix our handrail by our stairs he needed to know where the studs were. Applying this to the wall he was immediately able to find where the stud was and it magnetically held to the wall and stayed in place while he was able to make his measurements. I worried that this may not work as accurately as the other stud finders that run off of batteries, but it was quite successful at finding the studs and the magnetic aspect of it allowed it to be used hands-free so that he could then place the nail properly. It's also thin enough that he was able to fit it in between the handrail and the wall brackets. So it can be easily slid into small spaces. I definitely recommend these over the old battery operated ones that seemed to go bonkers in the past and gave us false measurements.

WOW! The claim of a strong magnet is no lie!! These work like a charm and are simple to use, even as someone who doesn't know a whole lot about tools and handyman type stuff. Really impressed with the pull of the magnet and think these are definitely worth the cost.

Excellent stud finder with 3 strong neodymium magnets. This stud finder is for standard drywall (painted, wallpaper, tiled) and will not work on plaster. I tried it on drywall and it locked on fast to the stud nails. The three magnets are encased in an easy to hold smooth translucent case (lucite, acrylic?) and it’s easy to slide/move around to locate the studs. Overall a good quality stud finder.

I am a firm believer that very lady should have her own tool bag! I have owned multiple stud finders over the years, and every one of them was a pain in the butt to fully understand. The darn things beep when they shouldn’t, making it very difficult to determine where the studs exactly are. These little guys are simple and straight forward! Slide them across the wall and it sticks to the nails in the studs. Unlike the digital stud finders, I was able to locate all the studs in my wall on the first try with this.

This is a set of very powerful magnetic stud finders. There are three magnets on each finder which should make it easier to find something behind the drywall. They are actually pretty large, hand sized, and the finder tool is made of plastic (ok quality).

I will have to say that if you accidentally get the two magnets stuck together, be careful in separating the two. Don't try to force it apart, since the casing is plastic, you might actually break one of the cases (yes, the magnets are that strong). If you do get them stuck together, slide them apart. that means, keep the together, and slide one to the right, as you move one magnet off at a time. Once you get to the last magnet, it's easy to slide the last one off.

One other thing to consider is that the magnets are that strong, it could impact your electronics or other magnetic metal products. So you may want to store these AWAY from batteries, and other electronics.

This stud finder is much smaller than an electronic one. There are no batteries to replace or electronics to break. It actually looks very basic and plain. What it is a very powerful stud finder that works on 3 powerful magnets imbedded in hard clear plastic. Simple but ingenious. The magnets finds nails and screws in stud and wood letting you know exactly where the wall stud is. No more false readings like electronic ones sometimes produce. There is nothing to break on this and it can be thrown into the bottom of a tool bag with no issues. I prefer this magnet type over any digital stud finder. This worked well for hanging mirrors on bathroom walls.

This stud finder is the real deal. My old electronic one barely worked, but this magnetic version snapped right to the wall the moment it got near a stud. The magnet is impressively strong, the size is compact, and there’s no need for batteries or guesswork. Simple, accurate, and convenient. I’m very pleased with it and would definitely recommend.

I have drywall type walls in my current home and these are handy to detect studs by attracting the nails or screws attached to wall studs in plasterboard. The neodymium magnets are so incredibly strong, I would not recommend you connect them together along the front faces as it would be difficult to separate if doing so. I stacked them easily and stuck them on a 2x4 shelf with screws in my basement. If you have metal studs, it will also detect these as well, but my home uses standard pine studs. I ordered the two pack of these finders, as it allows them to be used in tandem across two stud spaces and makes it easy to determine the spaces between them. One thing to note is that since it attracts the screw or nail head, they might not be exactly centered on the stud and depending on the drywall guy, the screws might not all be lined up in an even horizontal line. This is especially true where two drywall sheets meet at the center of the stud and often nails or screws are driven on the edges of the two adjacent sheets on an angle and not in the stud center. For most general locations, these work just fine for me and are easier than trying to use my electronic stud finder. The only small thing I might change would be to put a small radius on the bottom edges of the plastic to avoid catching the edges of wallpaper when sliding across walls. They are pretty sharp, so will catch on any imperfection or raised edge on your wall. A great easy to use tool, nonetheless.

I bought this magnetic stud finder and the quality is very good. The magnets are strong and it feels well made. However, it’s not very effective for my everyday use because it doesn’t work well on my drywall. It’s still a useful tool for the right type of wall. I’d give it 4 stars

I have used and owned many different types of "electronic" stud finders. There's always issues with calibration, different wall materials and thicknesses, and other odd behavior with those devices. I normally revert to using a small neodymium magnet to search for the hardware holding the drywall to the studs.

These magnetic stud finders work the same way. The magnets are sufficient and strong and this provides an easy "analog" way to find studs easily and quickly.

At about 25 bucks for the two pack I think these are a little overpriced for what they are, but they do work well and should last for some years so I'm happy with them.

This item is a strong magnet that detect by literally magnetizing to the wall where there is metal underneath to detect a stud and boy does it stick! The finder itself is an extremely strong magnet encased in a strong plastic housing. I found several studs adjacent to where i guessed there were suds based on knocking..so close! I think this is a quality product. I would recommend for its price anyone try to use it before punching a hole or 10 in your dry wall!

I am officially done with electronic stud finders that beep at everything and nothing at the same time. This thing is so simple it’s genius. Since it uses neodymium magnets, it literally "sticks" to the wall right over the drywall screws. No batteries to leak or die when you need them, and it fits right in your pocket. It’s a must-have for any DIYer who hates calibrating sensors. The price isn't bad at all for 2 of them and for someone who is always trying to hang stuff and has no clue where the studs are these are going to come in handy big time!

Some stud finders are fancy… they use batteries, they light up, they beep, or they visually indicate the approximate location of a stud behind wallboard. This stud finder from the HMmagnets Store is simple. It relies on the fact that drywall is installed with screws into the wood framing studs, and this stud finder can locate those screws. It has three powerful magnets that ‘grab’ onto the head of a screw as the finder is slowing moved across the wall.

It’s really just a simple compact (approximately 5”) tool that is easy to use, easy to carry and easy to store. Maybe it is a bit pricey for what it is (plastic and magnets), but it would pay for itself when you’re looking for a stud to hang a television bracket securely to the wall for your large screen TV. The alternative is drilling multiple holes until you hit a stud.

I live in an older house, and much of my drywall was installed using nails. This is not a problem, as the stud finder can easily find the nail heads as well. It is interesting that this tool claims to locate the magnetic screws under a ceramic tiled wall, as I would like to try that if I had one.

I'm pretty handy and I pretty much do everything around the house myself. I have a few different stud finders already, including a fancy one that tells me exactly what's behind the wall (size of stud, pipes & sizes, wires, etc). I didn't really need a new device, but I always like to try new things.

I'm going to be brutally honest here-
I really didn't think these were going to get used much or be all that handy. I even questioned why I even bought them. BUT…I noticed how awesome and valuable these are from the very first use! These simple, small stud finders are INCREDIBLY USEFUL!

⭐️ARRIVAL & UNBOXING⭐️
I ordered the 2 pack (which I HIGHLY recommend. More on why in a bit). The set arrived quick, with one stuck on top of the other, and they were packed in a glossy, branded box. There was also an instruction sheet included as well, however these are beyond easy to use.

⭐️MATERIALS & SPECS⭐️
Each stud finder is made with very durable, clear plastic. I can attest to the fact that these are pretty difficult to break, as I have dropped them numerous times and they typically end up in the bottom of my tool bag. Despite that, there isn't a scratch, chip or crack anywhere. The clear plastic is also nice, because you can see through it, to the wall underneath- basically, you have an unobstructed view. They measure 4.75” x 1.2” x 1”. They aren't terribly heavy, but they aren't cheap or lightweight either. They are very easy to use/handle.

⭐️MAGIC MAGNETS⭐️
The thing that makes these cool is that each one has 3 neodymium (rare earth) magnets along the length of the underside. These are the strongest type of permanent magnets commercially available, offering exceptional strength to size ratio. They make it extremely easy to locate the studs, as they are attracted to the fasteners underneath. As soon as you have located the fasteners, these stay put on the wall, allowing you to use both of your hands to mark, measure or find another stud.

I'm not surprised that these work on drywall (and the ceiling), but I was amazed that they work through tile as well. I also have a decorative plaster finish (over my drywall) in the bonus room bath. The plaster isn't super thick, but it's not thin/flaky either. These worked on that wall as well.

These magnets are EXTRA strong.
If you have two units, keeping one on the back of the other is the way to go. They are a bit difficult to pull apart if you have them facing each other.

A cool bonus feature?
I made a small cloth pouch that I store these in (that I clip to the side of my tool bag- when I remember). When I'm done working on a bigger job where I have lots of fasteners laying around, these become my saving grace! I put them in the pouch then pass the pouch over all the areas I was working in. Every single metal faster flies onto the pouch and I can easily remove them/put them away. It saves a ton of time and my fingers!

Why do I like these so much?
I absolutely LOVE that I can leave this right on the wall and use both of my hands to do other things (like measuring, drilling, hanging, etc) and I don't need to make any marks on my walls either. I've been using these constantly, over my big, fancy stud/pipe/electric finder- because it's so quick and simple. No need for calibration, no need for batteries/charging (this is always ready to go!), you don't have to read a small screen or remember what the different sounds/tones mean, BOTH of your hands are free and you will never drill into another screw again!

⭐️2 IS BETTER THAN 1! GET THE SET!⭐️
If you plan on using these to do anything more than just hanging up a few photos, I HIGHLY recommend getting the set (even if you are just hanging photos, which this is PERFECT for, having a spare is nice).
When I was hanging some floating shelves, it was SO NICE to have one of these on one stud then one on the next one over. I was able to see/visualize exactly where the shelves were going. Using two also gives me a clear, vertical line down the stud too. Trust me- the set is the way to go!

⭐️VALUE & FINAL THOUGHTS⭐️
I absolutely misjudged the value of these in the beginning.

They are beyond useful and I now prefer using these over my other stud finders! Being able to use both of my hands is awesome and the speed and accuracy just adds to that.

These do cost a bit more than some of the other magnetic sets, but they are worth the few extra dollars. Why?

For starters, these have 3 crazy strong neodymium magnets- not 2. That 3rd magnet means better accuracy. And, if you have shopped on this platform long enough, you know sellers can say whatever they want. I'm sure a good % of the other (cheaper) magnetic finders that claim to have the neodymium magnets probably have lame fridge magnets that slide down the walls instead. Here you know you are getting the real deal! The see-through housing is also a major bonus. You get what you pay for here and you definitely won't be disappointed!

Ladies-
Instead of waiting for your man to hang up your photos, new mirror or wall decorations, grab a set of these stud finders and DIY! Show him he isn't the only handy one in the house!

Guys-
If you think (like I did) that having the most technologically advanced stud finder is the only way to go- think again!
These are proof that sometimes, simple is better! These are a most welcome addition to your tool box/bag!

This is a unique stud finder - by using neodymium magnets, you can find studs in drywall by 'feeling' the embedded screws and nails. Basically, you slide the stud finder over the wall, and wait for it to "grab" at any metal under the surface.

It works really well - the stud finder will even 'stick' to the wall where it finds embedded metal. About the only improvement I'd like to see is a soft bottom surface to avoid scratching the walls (use a light touch!)

I'm impressed with these little magnetic stud finders. I'm a little compulsive when it comes to finding studs when hanging heavy objects on the wall. In fact, I typically use two electronic stud finders and between the two, I can zero in on the center of the actual stud. When hanging heavy items on the wall, like a TV, I want to be precisely in the middle of the stud. Sometimes, I'll even go as far as pushing in a small finish nail through the drywall with a pair of pliers until I find the exact edges of the stud. That way I know the bolt or screw will be in the direct center of the 2x4.

This magnetic stud find is a pretty decent, non-powered way to help generally locate the studs on a wall. Since it does not need batteries, this is perfect to throw in your tool bag and not worry about. I deducted one star because the stud finder should have some sort of felt lining on the wall side as the plastic directly contacting the paint could scratch a finish. Although this will tell you where the nail is nailed into the stud, it does not tell you if the drywaller nailed it properly in the middle of the stud. So even though this will give you a general idea of stud locations, you may need other devices or methods to find the exact center of the stud.

Overall, it's a decent device and a good addition to your tool box. Except for lack of any protective felt padding, the quality is good and magnets are strong. As for price point, for the two, you could purchase a decent electronic stud finder for about the same. So value of these stud finders is in the beholder. The value I get is a quick, non battery powered device to find the general locations of studs.

This magnetic stud finder actually works great. It uses strong magnets rather than batteries or sensors, and when it finds a stud, you know because it pulls obviously and in some cases even latches on firmly enough to hold itself to the wall. (See my photo!)
I love the simplicity and reliability. No batteries means it’s always ready to use, and it’s been very helpful for quickly locating studs in drywall. I've always wanted an easy-to-use stud finder because some of them beep unreliably and knocking and listening doesn't always find a stud. This one is great and a good value for the price.

I used this to find studs before mounting a TV bracket in the living room. You just slide it slowly across the wall and it snaps firmly to the spot where there is a screw or nail behind the drywall. I verified the first few hits by measuring from a corner and the spacing matched standard stud placement. It sticks right to the wall hands-free while you mark or drill. This is a simple to use analog stud finder, no batteries, no electronics -- it just works. The unit has three strong magnets inside, fits easily in the hand, and is very easy to use, it can find studs with ease and does a great job of "just working!" It
The unit feels fine in the hand but molded plastics feel a bit cheap, that's why I'm taking 0.6 stars off, it feels like it'll crack if it's dropped one too many times. It's a bit pricey given the construction, I guess the magnets are expensive, which may be the cause of the higher price point.

This stud finder is amazing and an absolute game changer! Works way better than the expensive electronic ones. I used it to hang up some heavy shelves as a few large pictures and it made the job a breeze!!
