This magnet comes with an adhesive magnetic panel in case your dishwasher doesn't have a metal surface. Pretty simple operation of course, and it sits flush with the surface so it won't get knocked off.Our previous one had a little button magnet because it wouldn't stick to the dishwasher, which meant it would fall off easily.So far, this one seems to hold on well, and it's easy to switch as well (one of the main positives of the other one, which had us patient with it for so long).

One of the worst things I can think of encountering first thing in the morning is the smell of a dishwasher loaded with dirty dishes that was left overnight. My kids were constantly loading the dirty dishes and getting distracted, forgetting to start the washer. Without some kind of indicator, it was impossible to determine whether or not it was "safe" to open that door. Enter this little dog to tell me if my dishes are clean or dirty.Now don't get me wrong, we have had magnets in the past, but they were thin, one-sided, and hard to manipulate. Eventually, the cover peeled off of them and they were discarded. This magnet is thick, so it is easy to grab and pull away from the door to flip it around, and the printed material seems like it is strongly adhered to the magnet material so that it will resist peeling. Furthermore, while the magnet is easy to remove due to its thickness, it strongly adheres to metal surfaces and will not fall off easily. The manufacturer even includes an adhesive pad that will allow the magnet to be used on non-magnetic surfaces. However, I could never see myself sticking something like that to my dishwasher. If my appliance was non-magnetic, I would opt for another type of indicator, but it is there if you need it. Perhaps most important feature is that the kids think it is "cute" and that makes it fun to use. This is the biggest selling point to me. If it is fun to use, then perhaps it will negate the early morning stinky surprises.The reason that this magnet did not get 5 stars is that I think that the price is a bit high for a dishwasher magnet. Otherwise, it's good to go.

Nice and big, easy to see! Cute dog on the picture.
Good size so easy to ready from across the kitchen, strong magnetic hold and great small gift for the person who has e everything!

The media could not be loaded. It's strong enough that it won't fall off when opening and closing the door. It's thick enough that it's easy to grab to switch sides. It comes with a sticky magnet incase your dishwasher is not magnetic and it's cute.
